The described method for determining the specific gravity of dentin has certain advantages, namely: 1. It is applicable to a large number of teeth. 2. There is no sacrifice of the tooth slab. 3. The values obtained by it agree with recent, very accurate methods. 4. It can be used for coronal dentin in deciduous teeth.
Values were obtained for the density of 191 permanent, non-carious teeth and 51 deciduous non-carious teeth with averages of 2.00 and 1.91, respectively.
